Student Camp 2017

With the blessings of Pujya Gurudev Swami Sivanada Maharaj, a Students Camp held on 3 to 5 of Jan 2017. at Sivananda Ashram, Rishikesh coordinated by Kashika and with the help of Divine Life Society and Aurobindo Ashram, Delhi Branch.
Totally, 52 students and 7 caretakers participated in this camp. (Students: Tihar Village – 13, Hurri Village – 21, Salang Village – 13, Raital Village – 3, Pala Village- 1, Barsu Viiage – 1 Student )

This program was conducted with the blessings of Poojya Swami Padhmanabhananda ji.(General Secretary, DLS) and Poojya Swami ji AdvaitanandaJi Maharaj, (DLS Treasurer).
Our sincere pranams to Poojya Swami Padhmanabhanda ji Mahraj and the program was held successfully with Swami ji’s blessing. Swami ji had immediately agreed to this program when we has approached initially. From the beginning Swami ji has encouraged and was instrumental in DLS organizing this program. Swami ji’s daya and concern for the students is infinite.
A special thanks to Sri Tarun Bhaveja ji and Sri Anil Bhavanani, Aurobindo Ashram, Delhi for help in organizing this program. They provided for the transportation of the students and also for the Doctor facilities. This was part of the Mind Cleaning Program of Aurobindo Ashram, 2017, Year of the Mind.
We have special thanks for Sri Gopi ji, Swami Sivabhaktananda ji, Vishal ji and Swami Nischalanada Ji, Ms.Neeru Agarwal Ji , Swami Krishnabhaktananda ji and Br.Saroj ji, Swami Sridharananda ji, (Anna khetra), [yogasana mataji] [martial arts teachers] the [family that came for teaching students] and Yatharth from Delhi.
Also, our thanks to Adi Shankara Brahma vidya Peetham. They had given prasad on the way to Sivananda Ashram and when returning the students had warmed the food that was bought from DLS taken their food in Brahma Vidya Peetham.DSC_4797
02.01.2017
We left Gangnani around 6:30 by one big bus and two taxis. Since the students had never made long trips, they experienced some difficulties. We reached Rishikesh around 6:00.

The evening dinner was taken at 6:30 and then everyone rested.

The daily schedule is shown below:

First Day (03.01.2017) of the Students Camp
5.00 -Utthanam (wake-up) 5:45 – 6:45 – Yogasanas 7:15 – Break-Fast
8:30 – Inaugural Function of the Camp Prarthana and Bhajana for the students – Swami Krishnabhaktananda Ji and Br.Saroj Ji Pujya Swami Yoga Vedantananda ji Registrar, Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy gave the welcome speech.
Pujya Swamji Yogaswarupananda Ji, Vice President of Divine Life Society performed the Lighting of the Deepa and gave an introductory talk.
Pujya Swami ji AdvaitanandaJi Maharaj, DLS Treasurer, gave the anugraha bashana about Gurudeva and introduced the students to Swami Sivananda and his message and how they should conduct themselves.
Pujya Swami ji PadhmanabhanandaJi, General Secretary, DLS gave a general overview of the program being conducted for the students and interacted closely with them.
8:30 – Medical Checkup
The Doctors and their group that had come from Aurobindo Ashram did a detailed check up of the students. Under the guidance of Doctor . The complete check up of the students was started. They were made into a group of 5 students and went for check up. For the other students, Mr. Chatterjee and Mrs. Chatterjee taught the students how to draw – Citra Racana(painting).
11:00 – Bhojana 12:00 – 3:30 Complete check up for the students was contined and finished. For others, the Citra Racana program was continued 3:30 – Chaya panam (Tee)
3:30 – 4:30 Various games were conducted for the students. 4:30 – 6:00 Darshana of Sivananda Ashrama by Pujya Swamiji Sivabhaktananda, Asst.Reg. Forest Vedanta Academy and Gop Ji. Swami ji guided the students and took the students for Ganga Arati.
6:30 – After coming back from the Ganga Arati darshanam, bhojana was taken by the students. 8:00 – A documentary related to ‘Solar System’was shown to the students. 10:00 – Students went to sleep.

Second Day of the Students Camp
5.00 – Utthana 5:45 – 6:45 – Martial Arts demonstrated by Malasyian couple 7:00 – Arati darshan in Vishvanath ji Mandiram and prasada 7:15 – Upahara
8:00 – 9:00 – Swami Krishnabhaktananda Ji and Br.Saroj Ji – teaching Bhajans 9:15 – 10:45 – Ms.Neeru Agarwal Ji School Teacher from Gurgau,Delhi Gurudeva’s Vishwa prarthana by video presentation on the values of Life 11:00 – Bhojana and rest 12:00 – 1:00 Personality Development program 1:00 – 2:00 – Students of broken into six groups. Each group had a leader and each student was expected to enquire about others and know the complete detils of family, etc.
2:00 – 3:30 – Swami Amritarupananda Mataji coordinator of Clean Himalaya Movement led all the students to the bank of Ganga. The same six groups were given masks, gloves and bag to collect rubbish. Mata ji was assigned a particular group. The collected waste was in turn given to one person from the Clean Himalaya Movement who accompanied the group which in turn was deposited in a truck. After the program, all the students returned to the ashram. Then the students cleaned themselves. 3:30 – Chaya panam
4:00 – 6:15 – Personality development through various activities. Various games were also conducted for the students. 6:30 – evening dinner 8:00 – Sivananda Ganga movie was shown to the students 10:00 Students went to sleep.
Third Day of the Students Camp

5.00 – Utthanam 5:45 – 6:45 – Yoga for students 7:00 – Arati darshan in Vishvanath ji Mandiram and prasada 7:15 – Upahara 8:00 – 9:00 – Swami Krishnabhaktananda Ji and Br.Saroj Ji – conducted bhajans
9:15 – 10:45 – Power Point Presentation on Bhagawat Geeta by Ms.Neeru Agarwal Ji 11:00 – Bhojana
12:00 – 3:30 – A boat was arranged for all the students and Ganga ji was crossed. All the students experienced going on the boat for the first time. Ganga darshan, Paramarthika Niketan and Ramjulla Geeta Bhavan were some of the places visited and all the students came back to the ashram by walking. 3:00 – SwamiRambhaktananda ji showed DLS Yogavedanta Forest Academy printing press while working 3:30 – Chaya panam 3:45 – 5:00 – Group photo of the students with the Swamijis of the DLS trust This was followed by the Valedictory function in the Sivananda Auditorium Organized by Gopi ji and Swami Sivabhaktananda ji. Pujya SwamiYoga Swarupananda Ji, Vice President of DLS presented certificates for the students. Pujya Swami Padhmanabhananda Ji, General Secretary, DLS gave ‘School Bags’ to all the students. Pujya Swami Advaitananda Ji Maharaj DLS Treasurer, gave prasada, Pujya Swami Yoga Vedantananda Ji gave Jnana Prasada (Books) for all the students Kumari Durga studying 9th std, Gov. High School Gyansu spoke about the camp experience. Boy Sobendra conducted group singing.

5:00 – 6:30 Personality development program 6:30 – Bhojana 7:00 – Final reharsal for the program to be conducted by the students
8:15 – 9:15 Students preformed cultural Program at Sivananda Samadhi Mandir
Poojya Swami Padhmanabananda ji gave an introductory talk to motivate the students. Swami ji himself called and presented the students to the Audience seated there. Students performed Traditional Gadwal Dances and Songs, with very little practice. All enjoyed and appreciated the student s Swami Padhmanabananda ji also said that this was new for the students as they had not experienced boat ride and most of them had not even visited Rishikesh. Swami ji also mentioned that this program was done in co-ordination with Mind Cleaning Program of Aurobindo Ashram Delhi Branch. After satsang prasad was distributed.
10:00 – Students went to sleep
Fourth Day of the Students Camp
5:00 – utthanam 5:45 – 6:45 – Yoga 7:15 – Mandira Darshan and prasad 7:30 – upahara 8:00 – Boarded the bus for going to the Rishikesh Railway Station.
8:50 – The students boarded the Rishikesh-Delhi passenger train and all of them were experiencing the train ride for the first time. All the students’ wale extremely excited.
10:00 – All the students walked to Hari ki podi and had Ganga ji Darshan. They also had Tee and Biscuits on the Ghat. Students also had darshan of Siva ji and visited a nearby Swami Vivekananda park where they played various games. They had their bhojan in the park itself, a pick nick. For this Swami Sridharananda ji of DLS arranged. Keer, Roti, Puri Subji etc. was packed and sent from DLS Annakshetra.Then the students were enjoying themselves by performing various activities such as bhajan, singing and dance in small groups.
2:30 – Bharata Mata Mandira Darshan and Shanti Kunj Ashram darshna was conducted. Since the students wanted icecream it was bought and given to them. 5:30 – Returned to the Sivananda Ashram. The students were extremely happy about the whole experience of visting Haridwar. The Haridwar program was well organised and conducted by Sri Arora Ji ,Br.Amit Ji,Br.Manoj Ji,Br.Vishal Ji also helped 6:30 – Dinner. 8:00 – My Green Home – an animation movie was shown to the students.

5:00 – Uthaanam 7:15 – Mandir darshan and prasad 7:30 – Upahara

It was planned to leave in the early morning but due to rains the trip was delayed. The students had their breakfast and once again Swami Sridharanand gave packed food for all the students to be had on the trip back home. The previous night many students had mentioned that they want to stay on for a few more days in the ashram.

8:00 – Left Rishikesh for Uttarkashi. 4:00 – Students had prasada at Somashram Uttarkashi 6:00 – Left Uttarakashi for Gangnani

8:00 pm – With heavy snow falling, the children reached Sanglai as they were not able to climb to their villages, they stayed in others homes there itself.

Note: The medical report for each student was given. Many of the students need further attention and we are looking for support for this purpose.
