Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
We realize that open defecation is a serious health issue and stunts the growth of children. Building toilets for children and women in the villages can transform their lives.
Our mission is to reach out to remote villages in Himalayas where people do not have access to toilets. We surveyed 10 villages in Bhatwari block of Uttarkashi district and listed about 1206 families. Out of this, a majority of 768 families do not have access to clean toilets.
One such village is HURRI, situated in Gangnani, 42 kms from Uttarkashi, frequented by pilgrims for a dip in natural spring. In HURRI, 47 families out of 90 do not have access to toilet.
Kashika is trying to convert this village to a MODEL VILLAGE by providing toilet facilities to all the remaining 47 families. With the help of Divine Light society and volunteers from the village, Kashika has started this project, with prayers to fulfil this aspiration at the earliest.

The trustees of DLS Swami Advaitananda, Babu ji, Bapu ji’s wife and Swami Mahendra ji visited Kashika to see the progress of toilets and bathrooms being constructed under the swaccha bharata scheme. This ongoing project is supported by DLS. They visited Salang village and interacted with villagers and childern there. The villagers received the delegation and performed athitya by offering them prasada. They also formally gave a written request to DLS for the construction of drinking water pipe line along the path way and also for solar light facility. We are grateful to the trustees to have kindly accepted our request and to have visited Salang, as it required a long and difficult treck.
